Variety and Seed Solution

As it comes time to plan for spring seeding, deciding which variety and seed to use can be difficult. Many things come in to play in your decision making. Maturity, disease control, insect control, and yield potential. Many producers will choose seed or varieties that have the best yield potential but with the ever-changing climate, maturity for your growing region should be your main focus. Selecting varieties with the best yield potential also come with the longest maturity. Delaying maturity can cause down grading in the quality of your product.  It can be more rewarding for you to grow 5 bushels per acre less and a have top grading product versus gaining those 5 bushels per acre and producing downgraded product. At the end of the day, it’s not always about producing the most bushels but about producing that best quality bushel that will be the most profitable.
